The Commonwealth was established by Queen Elizabeth II, and headed by HM King Charles III, which aimed at promoting democracy, development, and cultural exchange. Its operations are coordinated by the Commonwealth Secretariat, which supports its 56 member countries in achieving their goals.

The Commonwealth Youth Innovation Hub plays a crucial role in empowering young people within the Commonwealth, facilitating innovation and collaboration among youth leaders, and ensuring that their voices are heard in decision-making processes, thereby contributing to the overall objectives of the Commonwealth in fostering inclusive development and engagement.

Mandated by the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting in Uganda, Commonwealth Youth Innovation Hub (CWY) was launched by HM King Charles III in 2017 during his visit to Malaysia.
